The Lovers
This series deals with symbols of love and death. Such themes represented are of fleeting love, the inevitability of a lover’s death, fated lovers and the fantastic love. Through the use of imagery from the tarot, allegorical references to Adam and Eve, fruit imagery, the bones of two lovers embracing and Torres Gonzalez’s Perfect lovers (two clocks) I have set up a conversation between imagery. Each painting is independent in it’s own right, but the design and order of the presentation creates a type of narrative between the four paintings.
