Our hotel, Flamingo Vallarta is in the Marina, not the beach. All around the Marina are great little bars and restaurants, all relitively cheap and clean. I’m adding some photos I shot with my Father in mind because if he were here he would have spent most of his time wandering the docks, looking at boats. Carson and I took a sailing trip (which was a rip off!!! but I’ll blog about that later) on one of the boats in the Marina. Apparently, there are time shares on a few of the big boats, which is interesting. There are as many people staying in their yachts as their are people in the hotels.

the Pirate themed tourist trap cruise, it actually looks like a lot of fun

boats that are similar to my Father's boat
Many people around the marina make their money off of their boat. They offer boating trips, whale watching excursions, private fishing tours and snorkeling. There a tons of sail boats in the marina as well. It reminds me of my brother Scott who is a guide fisherman on Rainy Lake. These fisherman do the exact same thing as Scott, just on an ocean. My father should move his big boat down here and take tourist out for day on the ocean. He would love it, and could make a bit of money for dock fees.

A beautiful catamaran
In the photo above there is a lighthouse in the background. In the top of this lighthouse is a little bar with a great view of the marina. Anyone who stays in the Marina, I would sugest making the burdensome trek up the stairs to the bar at the top. Great pina coladas as well!

the monster yachts in the marina still cannot rival the landscape
